Cornwall Council elections are being held on Thursday 6 May 2021, and there’s an opportunity to find out more about being a Cornwall Councillor at a special online event on Saturday 16 January.

Cornwall Councillors make a huge difference to the quality of life for local people. People from all backgrounds and experiences to reflect the whole of Cornwall are strongly encouraged to stand for election.

Councillors receive a basic annual allowance and other help, such as a carer’s allowance and travel expenses. They receive a computer to help them with their Council work and there are officers to support, help and give advice.

Cornwall Council will have 87 electoral divisions contested at the election in May – that’s 87 councillors to cover the whole of Cornwall. Could you be one of them?

Find out more on the Be a Councillor  page on Cornwall Council’s website, which will be regularly updated between now and the election in May.
Details of how to view the ‘Be a Councillor’ event will be posted on the page in January.
