Automatic Refusal

  • Commercial in nature involving alcohol, nudity, cigarettes and e-cigarettes.
  • Wedding parties / blessings (unless part of the Watering Hole).
  • Metal Detecting.
  • Vehicles on the beach (we have a strict permit system for this)
  • Anything with a bouncy castle or other inflatables.
  • Selling of food and drink.
  • Political groups.
  • Bank holidays and bank holiday weekends.
  • School summer holidays; May and October half-term.
  • Two days either side of Tunes in the Dunes annual event.

Automatic Approval

Subject to the application form, documents being in order, and acceptable dates.

  • All beach cleans & Rock Rambles (including Angela Maynard – Marine Conservation Group; Lizzi Larbalestier – SAS / Going Coastal Blue).
  • School / college trips.
  • Filming for news items.
  • Student projects (non-commercial and not involving vehicles or drones).

Refer to Committee

Six (6) weeks’ notice required, or where input is needed from outside bodies (e.g., RNLI).

  • Commercial in nature nature (advertising, photoshoots, music videos, product launches and giveaways etc).
  • Music events — notice periods:
    • Up to 500 participants: 6 weeks
    • 501–5,000 participants: 12 weeks
    • Over 5,000 participants: 6 months
  • Events with over 100 people.
  • All filming requests (with the exception of news items): minimum 4 weeks’ notice; ideally 6 weeks preferred.
  • Outdoor theatre events.
  • Surf championships, sports events, tournaments and competitions.
  • Charitable collections – by tins or street sellers.
  • Religious and faith groups
  • 360 Scripture Union
  • Beach fitness Classes
