Announcement: Tunes in the Dunes to Take on Lease of Former Youth Hostel Building

Perranzabuloe Parish Council is pleased to announce that Tunes in the Dunes will be taking on the lease of the former Youth Hostel building in Perranporth.  Lease negotiations have now been concluded following appropriate and thorough scrutiny, ensuring that the terms are fair, clear, and include protections for the Parish Council as well as nearby residents.

This exciting development follows a structured and transparent process inviting Expressions of Interest, details of which can be found on our website at https://www.perranzabuloe-pc.gov.uk/?s=youth+hostel.  The Council was impressed with the quality of proposals received and is confident that this outcome represents the best use of the building for the benefit of the local community.

It looks forward to working closely with Tunes in the Dunes as they bring new energy and opportunity to this much-loved site. Their plans for the building promise to contribute positively to the local area and align with the Council’s broader goals of community engagement and sustainability.

Tommy Job, Director of Tunes in the Dunes, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to announce the reopening of the youth hostel in Perranporth. This isn’t just a renovation — it’s a revival. With a strong focus on community, wellness, and preserving the heart and soul of the hostel experience, this is set to be an incredible journey. We can’t wait to welcome you here over the summer!”

Perranzabuloe Parish Council is committed to the prudent management of its property portfolio, ensuring that all buildings are used effectively to benefit the community. At the same time, we strive to maximise the return on assets to help keep the parish precept low, delivering value for money for local residents.

Cllr Alan Bowers, Chair of Perranzabuloe Parish Council, said:
“The Parish Council is delighted with the outcome of this process. Tunes in the Dunes presented a compelling and creative vision that aligns well with our priorities — making best use of our assets, enhancing local facilities and supporting community wellbeing. This project will not only preserve the former Youth Hostel for future generations but expand its potential in exciting ways. Importantly, this tenancy also represents a responsible approach to managing the public purse. It ensures the building is generating a meaningful return, helping us to maintain services and keep the parish precept as low as possible. We’re proud to support this next chapter.”

This marks a significant step forward for the site and for the wider community, and it is  excited to see this new chapter unfold.
