Council Project

Bolenna Park

Bolenna Park is a highly valued recreation space within Perranporth; a place for people of all ages to enjoy the great outdoors. It is used by the community and visitors to traverse between areas of the village, to sit and relax, exercise, sunbathe and for children and families to play together.

The park is owned and maintained by Perranzabuloe Parish Council and is managed by the Public Spaces Committee.

The open grassed area which is bounded by mature trees and bushes forms a traditional parkland space. There is also hard standing basketball court and goal posts on the grass as well as two small play areas for children of different ages. One of these has recently been completely replaced with new, colourful features and a swing designed for wheelchair users. This area has proved extremely popular with families particularly post-lockdown. New outdoor gym equipment has also been installed thanks to funding from the Gardens Charities.

A pathway links St Georges Hill to Perrancoombe. New surfacing was laid in 2021 to improve the facility for a small number of parking spaces. Perranporth Tennis Club is next to the park.

The ‘Friends of Bolenna Park’ group has been responsible for organising the recent improvements, and has plans for further enhancements including improving the paths, restoring or replacing the derelict building for community use and installing a wheeled sports track.

There is a tree planting programme in place in the park partly to replace some mature trees which have blown over in storms and also in lineĀ  with the work of Perranzabuloe Action for Climate Emergency (PACE) which in turn is contributing to Cornwall Council’s Forest for Cornwall initiative and intentions for Cornwall to become carbon neutral by 2030.
