We have another vacancy on Perranzabuloe Parish Council. Mike Callan has now resigned from his role and this has created a space for another local resident to join the team on the Parish Council. The vacancy is in the Rose Ward in Perranzabuloe but any resident living or working within 3 miles of the parish boundary is eligible to stand to fill this vacancy.

For various reasons we have had a few vacancies recently on the Parish Council and this is a great opportunity for new people to join the team at the Parish Council offices at the Ponsmere Valley site at Chyanhale and help to shape the future of this parish. There are many exciting projects already underway including of course the new skate park facility as well as the future of the library and new facilities at the old Lloyds Bank site at 8 Boscawen Road. Once these are underway, there are so many other projects that we can start to work on as a community.

Here is a summary of the current situation regarding vacancies for parish councillors:

  • total number of councillors when we are at full strength = 15
  • current vacancies = 5
  •  of these vacancies – 3 seats in Perranporth Ward  – there will be an election for these seats – date to be announced soon
  • 1 seat in Goonhavern – to be filled by co-option (ie no election has been requested by residents and so councillors will decide)
  • 1 seat in Rose – residents can request an election (see announcement) – otherwise this will be filled by co-option

We are very keen to have enthusiastic councillors who are engaged with the community and are happy to work hard to support local residents. Please remember that this role is not actually salaried. The Council will cover any PC vacancy expenses but there is no actual salary so this position is very much a labour of love.

If you have any questions at all, please contact me in the office for a coffee and a chat.
